Today was a BLAST at the church I love.  Despite streets closed from local flooding and what is supposed to be the “summer slump,” we saw another record June crowd at Life Church Michigan — we’ve DOUBLED in size from this same time last June!  Way to go inviting first-time guests to join you at church, Lifers!

Our friend Gary Rohrmayer from Converge was our guest speaker.  If your life has been touched in any way by Life Church, Gary is one of the men to thank.  Gary was one of the first to believe in our vision when we were getting Life Church off the ground.

I was floored today when Gary announced we’re one of the fastest-growing church start-ups not just in Michigan, but in the entire MidWest!

I am very thankful for Converge and the investment they’ve made in the Great Lakes Bay Region!

Since I wasn’t on stage today, I had the opportunity to sneak into our kids’ environments and watch our Lifers in action.  Even though we just completed a full renovation of our Nursery and Life Junior environments last Fall to create more space, during today’s 10:15am worship experience ALL of our kids’ areas were FULLY PACKED to overflowing with children… this is a GREAT problem to have!

I am very thankful for the awesome men, women, and teens who sacrifice their time to serve one, attend one.  Together, we are creating the BEST hour in a kid’s week!

Next weekend all of our campuses are CLOSED for the July 4th holiday.  We shut down twice a year: the weekend of July 4th and the Sunday after Christmas Eve.

Why?

Because if we exist to reach people far from God — and people far from God DO NOT go to church on those two weekends — then we choose to power down, give our hard-serving Lifers a break, and create a hunger in our crowd for the following weekend!
